I got this scooter for my 13th birthday 4 months ago. It is pretty easy to assemble it. Once you have it up and running it is a lot of fun. However the scooter did not come with fuses, so I emailed x-treme scooters and they sent one to me within days. Another problem I encountered was that after pulling the pull start a few dozen times it doesn't retract into the unit so again I emaied x-treme scooters and the sent a replacement within days. The pull start broke again but I just gave up with it and used the electric start which works fine. I have a flat tire (the rear tire) but I do not think it is the conpanies fault I think I Used off-road to much. Remember to get the extended warrenty (3 months $29.99) because if parts go bad they will happily replace it.

The scooter probably does 23-28mph depending on your weight. The mileage isn't that great, you really only get about 15mpg, but if you just ride it around the neighborhood that really won't be a problem.

The speedometer is pretty much useless because it doesn't say your speed only the percent of full speed you are going. The horn, lights, turn signals and brake lights all work great. however the left handbrake doesn't do anything besides turn on the break light so to stop you have to use the right handbrake. In a way that is good because if you are riding at night (which I would not recommmend) you can just hold down the left brake and the brake light will stay on while the scooter is going full speed.

The acceleration is not that good, I raced my friends go-ped and his accelerated much faster but the top speed is better on mine.

Overall I would recommend this tov anyone who wants a gas scooter but does want to spend $750.00 on a go-ped or a moped. This may not be the best scooter in the world but for $279.99 it is definetly a great value

I bought one of these for my daughter and i'm quite surprised. I'd say it runs quite well and is cute looking too. There are also a few parts available for it, to make it run better. My only complain is that it should have a tail light and that's why i only gave it four stars. The scooters trunk lid did have a big chip out of it and was scratched but the company promptly replaced it. Both the front brakes and rear brakes work quite well but like any auto or motorcycle the front have most of the stopping power. i like it so much i may buy another so we can ride together, especially since it's only three hundred bucks. I also must say that my daughter loves it.
Not the best, but does the job

We bought this for our 10-year old daughter for Christmas (2008). The pros are that it is gas powered, and for the price, it's pretty good. It also has headlights and blinkers, which makes it safer at night. Since it's for a 10-year old girl, it's not being used for anything but on pavement and sidewalks. She is happy with it. I wouldn't recommend for anyone wanting to off-road. There are really no shocks and it rattles like crazy when I have tried to take it around our house on the grass. The trunk rattled so much that we took it off. As far as quality, not so much. The electric start has never worked. My husband took it apart to see if he could fix it (he couldn't). When he was done, he remarked that he was surprised it ran at all, as poor as the quality was. Also, the handle bars don't fold down like X-treme claims. Perhaps an earlier version did, and that would explain why the manual that came with it was for a model (not ours) that did fold down. If your needs are simple, like riding on pavement, I would recommend this product. It's not too terribly loud. I've asked my neighbors if they can hear us riding around outside, and they all say no. We live on a cul-de-sac with .25 acre lots. This product is fun, and I plan to buy one for me so I can ride with my daughter, but all in all, I am left a little disappointed with it too.
not a passing grade from me

Reviewer: Mech Engineer,
Summary:
For personal transportation it's just not reliable enough. For recreation it's just not sturdy enough. Although I wanted to like this scooter, I can't quite recommend it. Below I will discuses the pros and cons of this scooter in detail.

Reason for Purchase:
I bought this scooter for the purpose of personal transportation to work (a distance of about a 6 mile round trip on paved, hilly roads). With my pack I weight about 190 lbs. I was curious to see how this scooter would preform on hills and if it would be suitable product for personal transportation.

On Arrival:
The scooter shipped directly from the x-tremescooters warehouse and came encased in form fitting Styrofoam which seemed to protect it well enough (several others have reported problems with the way scooters from the x-treme warehouse were packaged, so either the company upgraded or I got lucky). The instructions that came with my scooter did not match it, but corrected instructions were on the manufactures website. Assembly took less than an hour. However this scooter had enough problems that it took an additional week before I finally got it up and running.

What I liked:
-With full tires and the carburetor properly tuned I get between 60-80 miles to the gallon which is good enough for my purposes.
-The main frame is welded metal and appears fairly sturdy.
-The scooter can carry me up moderately sloped hill (at reduced speeds) as long as the incline isn't too steep for too long.
-It is lots of fun to ride. Some groups keep cheering at me when I scooter by.
-It has a loud horn.
-It comes with functional headlights (although not very bright for night riding).

What I didn't like:
-The assembly for tightening the drive chain arrived unusable and had to be replaced with stronger parts.
-Many of the cheap aluminum bolts/screws are prone to stripping.
-The front break perpetually rubs on the front tire and had to be significantly loosened just to spin the tire freely. The way it is put together prevents it from getting tight enough without rubbing.
-The handle bars have a lot of slop in them and they don't feel very sturdy.
-The seat post has a lot of slop in it and feels like it may throw off its rider at any time.
-Even when locked the trunk is prone to open on its own while driving.
-To fill the back tire with air (or even to check it) without special tools requires the drive chain assembly be removed (and perhaps the entire tire too). This can take up to 30 minuets to remove and reassemble.
-The electric starter on mine failed after a single week of use.
-The turn singles are not bright enough to see (at all) during the day.
-It doesn't have shocks of any kind and every bump on the road is felt.
-Fairly poor acceleration.
-Screws and bolts keep rattling loose and require almost daily tightening.
-The pull starter doesn't look like it will last very long. A stronger pull starter is advertised by the manufacture for $35 :P.
-Handle bars (on mine at least) were not designed to fold down as manufacture claimed.
-The "strong plastic" deck cracked when I tightened the screws that hold it in place.

Conclusions:
Although mine is now running (with additional time/money/effort put into it on my part) I'm still left wondering what is going to fail on me next. Children and teens may be disappointed with the problems this scooter may arrive with (which also may prevent it from running directly after assembly). Extra money will likely have to be spent to replace the cheap parts that fail. Without additional work to address the slop in both the handle bars and the seat this scooter feels like it is trying to throw you off when you ride it.

Because of all this it fails to earn a passing grade from me. Even though I wanted to like it I can't in good conscious recommend this product.
Lousy Product - Don't waste your money

Awful Product - Don't waste your money

- installation instructions did not match the product delivered.
- none of the electrical stuff worked, electric starter/lights etc
- purchased from kids on roll. No support at all. Also x-treme scooters provided worthless support
- screws broke for the handle bars
- seat is loose even when installed correctly
- handle bars are loose (similar to what previous poster described as sloppy)

should have saved my $400 and invested in a real product. This is a cheap, chinese plastic toy. I wish we had done more research and purchased a go-ped.
